The Standards for Excellence Accreditation and Recognition process provides a disciplined approach to ensuring standards are implemented in your organization. Nonprofits of all sizes and services areas can find an application process that fits their needs.
Applying the Standards for Excellence can be self-guided, structured or a combination. Our group of specially-trained Standards Consultants are available to assist you. Contact us at 717-236-8584 to design the approach that works best for your organization!
Accreditation provides a proven structure and support for your organization to put all the Standards operations and governance practices in place. Organizations that have completed Accreditation say that the process is transformative, providing a means to creating more engaged boards and a strong foundation for achieving mission. Applicants undergo a three-staged review process to demonstrate that they meet all the benchmarks in our Code of Excellence.

Standards for Excellence Accredited Organizations
Standards for Excellence Recognized Organizations
"There could be no better guide than the Standards program. With a commitment for ethical conduct and accountability, the Standards for Excellence are an agency’s roadmap for reaching its goals. Over the course of many months, board and staff members attended Standards workshops, adopted and amended important governance policies, and conducted a top-to-bottom review of agency operations, procedures and controls.
The Standards for Excellence program is one every nonprofit organization should participate in to give these key stakeholders – board, staff, auditors, contributors, peers – the confidence and peace-of-mind that the agency is committed to the highest standards for ethics and accountability. The guidance, tools and support provided by PANO and its staff as part of the process are invaluable."
-Scott L. Rehr, Executive Director, Berks Connections/Pretrial Services
"It is not an easy task to pass the standards, but with the PANO staff assistance, all who are willing can become accredited. It is a great way to run an ethical and transparent operation. It is also an opportunity to have better results with their grant writing; we have boosted the yes’s from no’s, in receiving local grants from various municipalities."
-Kay Washington, Senior Executive Director, Pathstone
