Kyla immigrated from the Philippines to the United States with her family in 2001. She went on to study at the Robert Morris University School of Business in 2015 to pursue a BSBA with a minor in Marketing. During her years at Robert Morris, you could often find her on the rugby field, in the yearbook staff office, or exploring the beautiful city of Pittsburgh. In 2016, she transitioned from being a family caregiver for her grandmother, to becoming a professional caregiver through a home health agency. This position is where she truly found her niche in working with the aging population. After moving back to Central PA in 2017, she pursued a full time career in home health services before being offered a summer internship with a small nonprofit senior community center. This opportunity allowed her to combine her interest in the nonprofit field with her love of working with the senior population. She worked her way from intern to Executive Director and spent two wonderful years with the organization before joining the PANO team. Kyla finds her career in the aging sector to be extremely fulfilling and conducive to her lifelong journey of learning. She is passionate about advocacy in the aging sector and ensuring the rights of the elderly are respected. She currently serves as a board member with The Rutherford House in addition to caregiving part-time.
In her free time, Kyla enjoys going on hikes with her husky lab, thrifting, reading dystopian novels, creating music playlists for her friends, and learning how to cook Filipino food from her mother.
