Standards Online Assessment

The Standards for Excellence® self-assessment tools help nonprofits evaluate their current policies and practices using nationally recognized benchmarks for ethical, equitable, and effective nonprofit operation. Self-assessment results can help nonprofits identify specific areas where policies, systems, or practices can be strengthened.

These free, online assessments guide nonprofit leaders through a series of questions related to core organizational practices, built with logic to lead you through an assessment that is right-sized for your organization.

Once you begin the online assessment, you’ll be able to save your progress and come back to it if you are unable to complete it in one sitting. As long as you’ve entered an email address, a unique link will be sent to you to access your in-process assessment.

Using Your Assessment Results

PANO focuses on turning learning and assessment into meaningful organizational change. Upon completion, organizations receive a detailed report highlighting strengths, identifying gaps, and outlining areas for improvement, as well as recommended educational resources for review.

Results can be used to support internal planning, strengthen policies and procedures, or prepare for Standards recognition or accreditation.

Improvement is not a one-time activity, but an ongoing process of reflection, planning, and implementation that supports long-term sustainability and accountability, so you can prioritize what matters most and start there.

Need help at any point along the way? PANO has plenty of training, resources, and consultants to support your journey.
